General Talks
General Talks - Off Topic Discussion - Welcome to General Talks - your space for off-topic conversations, casual chat, and community building beyond technical mesh networking topics. Share what you want: Your thoughts on privacy and decentralization, interesting projects you're working on (mesh-related or not), philosophy of free and open communication, books, music, art, and culture, your daily life as a digital nomad or mesh enthusiast, ideas for the future of decentralized networks. While this is a relaxed space, please remain respectful and considerate of others. No hate speech, no spam, no illegal content. Think of this as the forum's virtual campfire - a place to connect as humans, not just as technical nodes on a network. Share your stories, your wisdom, your humor. Build friendships. This is what community is all about!

Reply: Hello there, this is actually my first ever Post using Reticulum or Nomad in general. So far I honestly don't understand very much but I managed to setup a client and a node. This project seems very interesting, but it also seems to be very niche. Even more niche than Meshtastic/Meshcore or LoRa.

Reply: Hi guys! I wonder how many of you are at uni or still connected to yours. In my experience, the easiest way to get something super niche bigger is to frame it as a research tool / project. I think the best way to make reticulum grow fast would be to set up repeaters at universities -- but to have schools fund it, we need enrolled students !

Reply: Technically speaking, Meshtastic/Meshcore is more niche, they can do less. But I see what you're saying, Reticulum has more niche appeal. Reticulum is classical music, Meshtastic is pop music.

Reply: I'm kind of brand new, but reticulum itself so far is pretty impressive. I feel like it's 1996 again in like, the best possible way

Reply: This is very true. While I appreciate community spots like this, I look forward to cracking the code on a "persistant" democratized IRC on RNS

Reply: persistent in what sense? like persistent message storage? that would likely require some sort of distributed database across multiple servers (nodes). Maybe something like CockroachDB would be helpful for that.

Reply: Hello, I just configured my Reticulum node. Could somebody confirm that it is working fine? Thanks!
